Congratulations – June Contest

Congratulations to “The Hiding” for Winning the June Contest. They did a great job achieving enough votes to secure a win. Also, we would like to thank “The Compromise”, a previous winner, and “The Transfer” for participating and we wish them the best in their music careers.

Artists today need to be aggressive to become successful in their music careers. Fame doesn’t and won’t come easy to most artists. A band like Metallica still has to work hard even after 20 years of playing together. The harder you work, the more easily fame will come your way. If it was so easy, don’t you think everyone would start playing music?

New bands, to be successful, need to be aggressive such as participating in smaller contests that can provide greater visibility by having better focus on them rather than getting lost in the mega music sites. You can even admit that bands without a huge fan base can still have a number of  dedicated fans voting multiple times, just like is done on American Idol, where fans can vote as many times as they like (some are probably shocked when they get their cell phone bill with text charges). Having some devoted passionate fans in the beginning can become viral in itself with a few spreading the word of the band and its music to many. This also works for individual musicians and artists.

Some bands like The Transfer could take these smaller contests half hearted since they already have a significant following. This is not a slam about “The Transfer”, just simply drawing a comparison of how different bands approach things differently and that is completely an opinion. Amazing to see how “The Hiding” and “The Compromise” battled it out garnishing over 50,000 votes while “The Transfer”, with a fan base which could have easily blown away the other bands, had less than a thousand votes. For bands trying to make their mark, it is that hunger, that constant drive, that pushing in every direction that can keep momentum growing.

What if well established bands continued to find new venues like smaller contests to constantly reach out to new fans? Maybe that is what kept The Grateful Dead and The Rolling Stones building their fan base with new younger fans instead of relying just on their current base which resulted in becoming music icons across generations. And we find it hard to believe that Michael Jackson was 50 but he continued to recruit new fans from different generations. Even Michael Jackson observed different venues for new artists such as American Idol, as witnessed regarding his encouragement of Justin Timberlake.

ReviewArtists.com wants to help create a huge viral following of music lovers and help all musicians (we call solo musicians and bands ‘artists’ because of their creativity) achieve better basic presence, visibility, and exposure any way it can. We will always be growing and maybe we can help get record deals. So help spread the word about us, sign up, submit a review, add a video, make a comment on this blog, tell anyone in a band about the voting contest and keep reading our blog.

Thanks,
