Mary

I’m currently studying for an MA in Multimedia Broadcast Journalism at the University College Falmouth in the UK. Having grown up surrounded by music, my Mum is a pianist and retired Music teacher and I’m a classically trained violinist, I have a wide musical knowledge to draw upon. It is a knowledge-base I hope to combine with my new journalism skills to forge a future career as a music journalist. I also try to go to at least one gig a week.

With regards my musical interests, my taste spans almost all the genres.
Currently I am listening to a lot of folk and folf-fusion, Levellers, Seth
Lakeman, Cara Dillon, but also more punk-inspired artists such as Dropkick
Murphy’s/ Flogging Molly/ Mago de Oz etc. Having said that I absolutely love
the indie scene – Idlewild/ Watershed (South African not the American band)/
The Feeling/  Matt Duke etc… and a special attachment for bands such as
Fall Out Boy/ Green Day/ My Chemical Romance/ Bowling for Soup/ Sum 41/
Pendulum which got me through my awkward teens!
I also love checking out new bands who help me keep my gig-going figures
high!
